May Darkness Guide I6 by ~andraon:iconandraon:

Marden started this job like any other, with a trip to the public records office.  He slipped into one of the terminal booths and let it scan him for record use filing information. Once his data was read he started a search for this Andraon Vilofangis. His results made him whistle. He had thought he had heard the name before.

Marden filtered out the information on the man being patient zero for Zenefrous Miltar disease and started looking at everything from before that diagnosis. He found the listing of properties the man owned as well as a large number of scientific as well as archaeological text written by Andraon. A link to his current finances would have made him drop the pipe from his mouth if he had been allowed to smoke in here. He shook his head and got a copy of everything before hitting the streets again.

A couple hours later he met up with a man he use to use a lot more often than he did anymore. "Hey Frank how ya been?"

"More up to date than you Marden. While the world has continued to progress you still dress, act, and talk like a detective out of a black and white film. What do you need this time." Frank smoothed his designer cloths as he sat down at the table.

A waitress drifted over, "What can I get you gentlemen?"

"Coffee, black as tar." Marden replied.

Frank shook his head, "Forgive my primitive associate here. He doesn't get out of the stone age much. I have a calia with extra cinnamon."

The waitress smiled and went to get their orders.

"I'm in the stone age? Slap some wheels on that girl's shoes instead of anti-gravity sliders and she's a roller-skate-waitress from a bygone era" Marden snorted.

Frank laughed, "Leave it to a man from the stone age to know his history. So what is it you need?"

Marden, "I need some information on Andraon Meltrion Vilofangis. Actually, I need everything you can get on him."

"Andraon...that name sounds familiar. You do remember I don't work for charity right? Not even for old friends." Frank responded.

Marden pulled out a small credit transfer device and punched in Franks normal fee before handing it to Frank. "I know you don't do charity except for tax purposes Frank. I'll give you your fee now and again if I'm satisfied that you have given me everything your department has on the man."

Frank arched an eyebrow but swiped his card none the less. He checked his account and satisfied handed back the credit transfer device. "Must be important Marden. I hope your not getting yourself into too much trouble."

The waitress returned twisting to a stop and set down their orders. "Is their anything else I can get you gentleman?"

Marden pocked his device and took a sip of his coffee. At least this place could definitely make to order. "Ya Miss. We need separate checks."

She drifted off to take care of another table and get their checks.

"I'm old. Trouble is all I got to keep me going. Just get that information for me Frank."

When the waitress returned yet again Marden downed his scalding cup of coffee, paid for it, and tipping his hat to the woman, left.

Frank just shook his head, "He never changes." He paid for his drink and took his time enjoying it before he went back to work.
